The modern expansion of computer with cash back and telecommunications has created a dramatic increase in the volume of worldwide data traffic that places increasing demands on communication network bandwidth. To meet this demand, fiber optic networks and dense wavelength-division-multiplexing (DWDM) communications systems have been developed to provide high-capacity transmission of multi-carrier signals over a single optical fiber.
